What the hell is going on in Chapel Hill? That was the headline of our first newsletter back in 2021.
The same thing could be asked today. Though we never could have anticipated how dramatically things would evolve over the past few years – and especially these past few months.
This week’s news was that six UNC-Chapel Hill international student visas are being canceled by the Trump administration.
If you’ve been following our updates, you’re aware of the never-ending stream of distressing updates surrounding U.S. research universities, including Carolina.
Billions in research funding is at stake with cuts to NIH and USAID, universities are announcing hiring freezes, grants are being canceled and graduate student admissions are being paused.
It’s hard to keep up. And it’s hard to know what we can do as individuals to fight back.
That’s why we’re hosting a conversation to discuss what has been happening on campus and in higher ed these past few months and what we can do together to stand up to the attacks on research and the Carolina community.
Join Coalition for Carolina founders Roger Perry, Paul Fulton and Mimi Chapman for a conversation about the challenges the University faces
and where we go from here.
“In Times Like These: A Conversation with the Coalition for Carolina Cofounders”
Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 10am ET
We are looking forward to having an open conversation with Coalition members about where we all go from here.
Please send us a note at contact@coalitionforcarolina.org sharing your questions and comments as we plan what will be an important conversation in such uncertain times for the University we all love.
Thank you – we hope you can join us.
