Coalition for Carolina

We’re pausing our regularly scheduled programming to ask for your support.

If that’s all the convincing you need, you can make a tax-deductible contribution here.

For those of you who reasonably ask why you should give, here’s our pitch.

Things are tough right now in the world of higher ed. Faculty, staff and students have felt the squeeze for a while. Then it went into hyper drive last year as the Trump administration dealt blow after blow to higher education as we know it. Last year, we helped fight a harmful federal compact that threatened institutional autonomy. More recently, we worked to push back on a dangerous proposed rule that would allow federal political appointees to overhaul research funding approval. And for every battle in between, we’ve done our best to keep you updated on the issues important to Carolina and inform you of how you can make a difference.

We hope the work we’ve done as a Coalition inspires you to give. You can make a tax-deductible contribution at this link.

The work we’re doing benefits universities and research institutions across the country. But, of course, our mission is always to protect and defend the interests of UNC-Chapel Hill specifically. And Carolina faces its own challenges.

We formed the Coalition for Carolina in 2021 because we saw a need to organize to fight political interference on campus. Other schools have looked to our model of advocacy as they’ve faced their own challenges in recent years. We’re proud to serve as a model to schools across the country. We’re even more proud that we’ve remained independent from partisan politics and outside influence in the process.

We’ve held Carolina’s leaders accountable when we felt they could do better, and we’ve commended them when they’ve acted in the best interest of the school we love. We’ve tackled a wide range of topics – from faculty pay and academic funding priorities, to holding Trustees accountable for meddling in hiring and admissions decisions, to celebrating the wins of the Tar Heel community, including our recent record number of Rhodes Scholars and our baseball team’s inspiring run in the College World Series.

We will never stop advocating for Carolina – and we hope you find that to be a worthy cause for your investment.

Finally, we realize it’s a tough time for people financially right now. Everyday costs are through the roof and bills are going up, and the future holds so much uncertainty.

The unfortunate truth is, that financial uncertainty leads fewer people to contribute to important causes when times are tough. Today, that pressure is squeezing many organizations doing valuable work for their communities, and the Coalition for Carolina is no exception.

If you can, please make a contribution today. We would greatly appreciate it and put it to good use.

While our founders volunteer their time and do not make a profit from the Coalition’s work, running an organization like this does not come without cost. It requires the time and effort of a communications team and maintaining infrastructure that allows us to communicate with thousands of members of the Carolina family every week through our website, email list, social media platforms and webinar programming, just to name a few. The way we keep doing what we are doing is from generous contributions from members of our Coalition.

Thank you to those of you who have contributed in the past. We would be thankful to have your support again now and in the future.

And if you’ve never contributed, there’s no better time than today. No amount is too small to show your support for Carolina and help us carry on this important mission in the weeks, months and years to come.

Again, you can make a tax-deductible contribution at this link.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your continued support of the Coalition for Carolina. Together, we are making a difference.

Go Heels!
